Techno-Economic and Environmental Analysis of Decommissioned Flowline, Umbilical, and Tubular for Breakwaters

This paper presents the application of recycled tubular, flowline, and umbilical in coastal protection structures. Flowline tubular are found to improve load resistance capacity concrete beams. Embedment umbilical, into beams would be beneficial structural performance, which do not noticeably alter initial cracking strength beam but will provide good post-cracking resistance. A techno-economic analysis was performed, revealed that structures with decommissioned components accounting for more than 25% weight could both economically viable environmentally friendly options. Since global warming is most dominant environmental impact (i.e., 63%), recycling these from offshore impose positive impacts. Given limited supply construction materials remote area as well its proximity oil gas rig sites, have great potential use areas adjacent exploration. preliminary study finds no showstopper concept mentioned impact, economic perspectives.
